NOLLYWOOD

THINGS WE'VE LEARNT FROM NOLLYWOOD
1. Every problem you have is spiritual.

2. In every romance movie, someone must die.

3. It is possible to hit a person without actually touching them!

4. Anyone who gets hit by a car dies immediately.

5. Poisoned food always tastes better.

6. The best way to make money is by visiting a 'Babalawo' / joining acult / sleeping with rich men.

7. One of a pair of twins (identical or not) is born evil.

8. There is never an end to your suffering, except death!

9. With a pastor ... all things are possible.

10. A movie can be titled anything... such as:
*The boy is mine,
* Face me, I face you
*Two rats,
*Spanner,
*Calculator,
*Igala,*Ijele,
*Igodo,
*Igudu
*Shigidi

11. A movie has not been made if at least one actor/actress has not-'shelled', twisted his/her lips to speak wrong phonetics'.

12. You are in love... you want to take your girl out, the best placeyou take her to is...*Mr. Biggs/Tantalizers: where you'll most probably see an ex whilefeeding each other.*The beach: where it is imperative that you ride a donkey and carry herplayfully.*Or the best: take her to buy some new ugly clothes.

13. An Igbo movie has been made if:
* You visit a Dibia (Babalawo)
* A fleet of cars is shown off at regular intervals for a total of half of the movie time.
* Kanayo 'O' Kanayo is in the movie. Pete Edochie is there too!
* To get rich it is mandatory you join a cult

14. Gun shots and knock-outs sound the same!

15. Sometimes the title has absolutely nothing to do with the movie andother times, once you read the title and see the poster you know itall!!! (Also the soundtrack gives you a headache because it justnarrates the whole story repeatedly - so much for suspense andintrigue!)

16. A love story has not been produced if it does not have one or two ofthe following actresses-* Stella Damascus*
Stephanie Okereke*
Genevieve Nnaji*
Omotola Jalade*
Rita Dominic

17. The police are extremely 'efficient' unlike their counterparts inreal life.

18. An actress can wear the same hairdo for more than a year and even inlonger flashbacks.

19. It is permissible to wear very dark shades at night!

20. When you are shot in the chest, it really doesn't matter; your headwill be bandaged! Same for your legs!

21. When advertising a movie, you really should shout because... peopleare deaf?

22. When you are extremely poor, you will still be able to afford-abeautiful house, very good furniture, T.V., nice clothes, but you won'tbe able to send your kids to school.

23. Most especially in Yoruba movies, your gateman must be inefficientand comical. He MUST dress like a freak, be rude to all your visitorsand never mind his business.

24. the bad guy always dies or gets caught by none other than thepolice- LOL!!!!

25. At the end of a three hour movie you'll be reminded that THIS ISJUST THE BEGINNING...WATCH OUT FOR PART 2!

26. An actor must also sweat profusely when crying.

27. An actor announces his death as he slowly dies- “You killed me” “I’m dying” “I’m dead”

28. In a case where a person is on his death bed, he/she must cough till they die.

29. Every ghost must wear a white cloth and have powdered unevenly distributed on their face.

30. No matter the type of movie...TO GOD BE THE GLORY

THE INAGURATION OF BARACK OBAMA!!!

I havent felt like blogging all this while and frankly i've been too busy

The only thing that makes me wanna blog is yesterday's memorable inaguration of

the man who has shown us that if you can dream it, you can be it..

the man who has become an inspiration to millions of people around the world.

the man who had the audacity to hope...

Abraham Lincoln's self appointed protege;

President Barack Obama!

It was simply exceptional the way millions of americans braved the harsh weather to witness the inaguration of the first black or African -American (which is politically correct?) president of the United states of America...

The occasion was of immense significance to the black community who up till about 50 yrs ago were still severly segregated in the land they called home and to the American people and their history as a nation...a monument to how much they've grown as a people.

My fav things/moments at the inaguration...

- Sasha and malia Obama with their grandmother Marian Robinson......My! those gals are beautiful..and it was a joy to watch the sheer ordinariness of a happy family in extraordinary times!

-Michelle Obama's yellow gold and green ensemble by Cuban designer Isabel Toledo......extra fierce

-the brief interlude during the presidential oath-taking( hope the Chief justice wasnt intentionally up to anything!lol!)

-The Obamas meeting the Bushes for coffee at the White house in the morning...

Michelle presented the outgoing first lady Laura Bush with a pen engraved with yesterday's date and a journal inscribed with the quotaion that read “There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. Yet that will be the beginning.” .......................aint that just sweet?

-Joe Biden's smile...d man has really got a sunny one...he obviously couldnt contain his joy as he was almost dancing on the parade ground....(wonder what wifey was thinking)...and btw she didnt look half bad herself with her red coat and knee high boots...
- The president's new cadillac One...now..thats one fortified tank!!

all in all, it was a fantastic ceremony..yeah..and lest i forget, i loved the ball gown mitchelle wore for the inagural dinner..( i hear fashionistas have a thing or two to say about this one tho')

i thot she looked gorgeous none the less.......work it then Mitchelle!
and even if some say she cant dance to save her life...WE STILL LOVE HER

the fruit of seeds of pain and sacrifice!

the audacity of hope!!!

its God's victory , its humanity's victory , it's our victory!!

Long live the US of A, long live Nigeria....

Sooo much has been said about our new president elect..."the" Barack Obama......
...( yes i said "our")..lol!..
i've been sooooooo excited....my post might be a lil belated but ..whatever... i'm still on my "Obama-high"....

Self written marriage vows......whaddya think?

I really like the idea of marriage vows written by the couples themselves as opposed to the traditional " i promise to love you for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health..............bla..bla..bla

I've seen a no of movies where the couple wrote their vows and read them to each other and and I absolutely loved it...guess I’m an incurable romantic.....(i know some people who'd disagree tho..)lol!

Anyway, In my opinion, traditional vows though familiar may lack some of the benefits you gain from writing your own vows.

Here’s a quick review...

Traditional Wedding Vows

May or may not have personal significance

Are often merely “pretty” wordsUsed only on your wedding day

Likely don’t enhance your relationship on an ongoing basis

Self-Written Wedding Vows

Deeply meaningful to YOU

Your unique intentions, desires, hopes, and dreams are written out as reminders of what the two of you want to create in your life together.

No one has the exact relationship that you and your partner have. You wrote them, so they’re always within you, ready to use at any time.

Simply going through the process of writing your vows can deepen your connection with your partner

anyway, for you fans of
Grey's anatomy....did u see d last episode of season3?

the episode where Christina( the intern) and Burke (a cardiothoracic surgeon...hence the subsequent reference to "heart") were supposed to get married ....and Burke left Christina at the altar cos he felt she didn’t quite want to get married and would only go ahead because she loved him and had given her word...
for me, that episode was “da bomb “especially the part where Burke got to run his vows by some of the ladies...
The script went thus...

Burke:
Cristina...I could promise...to hold you...and to cherish you. I could promise to be there in sickness and in health. I could say...till death do us part. But I won't. Those vows are for...optimistic couples, the ones full of hope. And I do not stand here on my wedding day optimistic or full of hope.

Addison: Okay, um...

Burke: I am not optimistic. I am not hopeful. I am sure. I am steady. And I know. I am a heart man. I take 'em apart. I put 'em back together. I hold them in my hands. I am a heart man. So of this I am sure...you are my partner...my lover...my very best friend. My heart, my heart...beats for you. And on this day, the day of our wedding, I promise you this...I promise you to lay my heart in the palm of your hands. I promise you... me.What too trite? Because I can rewrite it...

Izzie: No. No. It's...

Addison: I think I speak for...every woman in this room when I say dump her. Dump Yang and marry me.

i was like "waoh!!!!.....and i got teary-eyed at that point....

Those vows were a special "love language" between the couple....though some people might find it a tad dramatic, it was supposed to mean more to them than any conventional vows would..........(someone pls remind me.. its only a soap.....lol!)

anyway, my man had better be ready to write me some deep mind-blowing vows.....I’ll sure do the same...

so peeps....what’s your take on this? do y'all feel me or would you rather do traditional?

my attempt @ poetry .........

SHOULD...

though i seldom remember the phase that was "us"
whenever i do, its a series of "shoulds"
while regret to me is history's misuse
with you, i must admit its all i feel

when you said hello, i should not have said hi
should have been ungracious, should never have smiled
declined i should have, never taking the ride
that inducted me into your phony sham world

connoisseur of empty, hollow lyrics
face of juvenility, puerility at its peak
now i see beneath the facade, through the veneer
should never have made the mistake that was 'you"

...saw this joke and found it hilarous.....enjoy!

Some Bible researchers interviewed Ibo, Yoruba, Hausa
& Niger Delta folks to know what they would rather
change in the Bible if they were given the chance.

The Hausa man said 'walahi talahi, the adulteress
whom Jesus asked to go should have been stoned ...'

The Ibo man said, 'Nna, I can't really understand
why Judas returned the money after selling Jesus. In short
he is not a good businessman. '

The Yoruba man said, 'Jesus should have waited just
one more day before raising Lazarus from the dead. We had
already paid for the 'aso-ebi'. At least he should
have allowed us enjoy the 'owambe' before
performing His miracles.

And guess what the Niger-Delta man (Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urobo)
said,'Ewedo, we would've kidnapped Jesus &
demanded for ransom, rather than leaving Him to be sold by
Judas Isi-carrot.
